Connecting Notion as your CMS

Database properties, integration tokens, caching, and webhooks — everything you need to publish straight from Notion.

In Notion mode, only pages with the Published checkbox turned on appear on the site.

Database properties

Property Type Required
Name Title ✅
slug Text ✅
date Date ✅
Published Checkbox ✅
tags Multi-select
excerpt Text
series Select
secret / password Checkbox / Text

Get a token

  1. Create a new integration at Notion Integrations.
  2. On your database page, open ··· → Connections and add the integration.
  3. Add the values to .env:
NOTION_TOKEN=secret_xxx
NOTION_DATABASE_ID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Caching

To stay well under Notion's rate limits, responses are cached in memory and in .cache/notion/. The production TTL defaults to 60 seconds; set NOTION_CACHE=0 to disable caching.
